Kaseem Jackson better known by stage name Kasso is an American rapper/songwriter based out of Long Island, NY.
At the age of nine years old Kasso took an interest to the likes of Tupac Shakur and immediately fell in love with hip-hop. He began writing lyrics of his own in composition notebooks, which he used as an outlet to escape his distressed childhood. Kasso is no stranger to adversity. He faced many challenges growing up including a fire that burned down his childhood home where the only remains left were over a thousand song that were written down in his composition notebooks. He took this as a sign to pursue his dreams of becoming a hip-hop artist and keep his faith and family first. Kasso’s love for his family and the positive people around him is what gave him the idea to create his own movement called F.G.O. (Family Goals and Opportunity) an organization dedicated to uplifting and uniting urban communities.
At age sixteen Kasso entered a talent showcase at his very first performance at Bay Shore High School. His presence was captivating and the energy he delivered was sure to rock the crowd. A few months later he performed in front of industry executives at The Remote Lounge in Manhattan for an unsigned artist showcase produced by his older sister Risa Wright (former promotion assistant for WQHT HOT97 FM, NY). It was at these showcases where Kasso honed his performance skills. He went on to win first place in the Ivy League Entertainment “Go Hard or Go Home” unsigned artist showcase. Since then, Kasso has performed at numerous venues throughout the tri-state area including but not limited to Amityville Music Hall, Club Revolution, TNY, The Cyber Lounge, The Pyramid hosted by Mental Supreme & The Training Camp, and many more.
In 2009, Kasso had to deal with the devastating loss of his older cousin Chinerro Lee whom was more like a brother to him. The loss took a toll on Kasso and his music and performances slowed down significantly. After a period of mourning Kasso realized there was no better way to remember and honor his cousin then to continue to pursue his passion for music. Kasso knew it was also time for him to turn his life around. He went from being a high school drop out to earning his G.E.D.,. In 2013 he graduated from Suffolk Community College receiving four academic achievement awards and being inducted into the Chi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society. After graduating from SCC, Kasso attended Five Towns College for Audio Engineering.
Kasso, founder of FGO is back and is ready to take the industry by storm. In 2015, he got back in the game by taking over the EarWaxx Sessions Showcase hosted by DA The Future. He filmed and edited the behind the scenes video footage for Busta Rhymes and Spliff Starr’s hit single “Big Rings.” Kasso was also featured in the video.
